The base of the Cime Careddu Gold machine comprises a tubular AISI 304 stainless steel frame with steel plates. Once assembled, the upper plate is processed and painted and the base is completely covered with panels that are also manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel.

The machine features adjustable feet that are used to level the machine and ensure compliance with height regulations. These are located in the lower section of the base.

The Gold machine was specifically designed and built for ease of operation and cleaning, as well as rapid replacement of accessories and simple maintenance.

All four sides of the Cime Carreddu Gold base are closed off with mechanically locked safety panels made of AISI 304 stainless steel. However, the panels may be easily removed (by authorized personnel) when internal maintenance of the machine is required. Parts that might require maintenance include the drive and transmission units; the clutch star unit that incorporates devices that will automatically stop the machine if something goes wrong; and the carousel fitted for the rotation of the upper section of the bottle-lifting cylinders.

The base also accommodates motorized units internally that are needed for the height adjustment of the filling machine and any other machines or devices (turrets) required for the operation of the machine. These include the rinsing unit, de-aerator, distributor, capping unit, an inspection unit, and the unit used for wire-hooding. Adjustments of the machine may be performed manually or electronically depending on the type of machinery used.

The transmission operates through gear wheels that are made of steel or thermoplastic resin (polyamide) and mounted so that there is no contact between the wheels. This effectively reduces the noise level as efficiently as possible.

Safety guards

The safety guards are comprised of an AISI 304 stainless steel frame and panels made from a transparent material that permits constant visual control by the operator assigned to the machine.

The sides of the machine consist of mechanically fixed panels, while the front and rear have electrically protected doors that allow access for skilled personnel to do maintenance. These doors will only open when the machine is at a standstill and the safety devices have been inserted.

Micro-switches are installed on the central carousel of the rinsing machine, as well as on the rotating clutch star unit that has guiding stars. Their function is to stop the machine instantaneously should the bottles be positioned incorrectly, for instance horizontally or in a manner other than that for which the machine was designed.

Control Panel

An electrical control panel with programmable logic controller (PLC), inverter, display, and low voltage controls built according to independent VDE standards, form part of the safety device. The electrical panel accommodates the inverter that is activated by a potentiometer that enables the machine to operate at variable speeds.

The alphanumeric display (or optional touch screen graphic terminal) shows all the bottling information and displays all the possible alarms of the machine including open guards, insufficient bottle inflow, and excessive bottle outflow.

The PLC allows programming all the necessary functions for proper operation processes of the machine. The electrical system and the control panel are fully CE compliant.

Filling Unit

Filling Machine

The Cime Carreddu Gold series bottling unit is composed of an annular, ring-shaped tank for fillers with 32 or more valves, and a full tank for fillers between 6 and 28 valves. These annular tanks can be provided for 12 to 28 valves if required.

Automatic feeding devices for the product are also installed together with the regulators needed to optimize the production flow. Analog signals can also be provided on request. The filling valves are mounted on the lower section of the tank along with the mechanism used for positioning and centering the containers.
The machine was specifically designed and built for easy operation and cleaning, rapid replacement of accessories, and simple maintenance.

All parts that come into contact with the product being bottled are made of AISI 304 stainless steel (or AISI 316 if required), and they can be washed with hot water and chemical products, or cleaned using steam sterilization.
The rotating table is completely clad in AISI 304 stainless steel and is mounted on two centering bearings and ball thrust bearings. Alternatively, it can be mounted on a thrust block and centering bearing for small-to-medium size machines, or on a thrust block and support for large machines. Whichever configuration is chosen, it provides support for the bottle-lifting cylinders and the ring (chamber) that supplies compressed air to the cylinders.

The bottles are placed on the lifting cylinders via screws, stars, conveyors, and conveyor belts, and activated by a compressed air pneumatic-mechanical system that filters and lubricate the moving parts of the system. This system enables the bottles to be lifted up gently and safely to the filling valves to ensure they are correctly centered without damage.
A cam that assures a perfect outflow of the filled bottle from the filling machine is used for the downward motion of the cylinder. This mechanical movement recycles the air in the descending cylinders and pushes it to the cylinders during the lifting phase, also minimizing the air pressure consumption.

The tank is connected to the lower carousel via the lifting device that allows height adjustment depending on the size of the bottles to be filled. This is electrically activated and comes standard and for machines with 20 valves and more. It is optional for filling machines with 6 to 16 valves.

Valves

GOLD Series Valves

The Gold series machinery is designed for the bottling of carbonated products that are quite often unstable during the filling phase.

This category includes carbonated water, soft drinks, slightly sparkling wines, sparkling wines, and beer. However, the Gold series can also be used for bottling still, non-carbonated products that do not contain carbon dioxide (CO2).

The complexities of filling carbonated products led us to develop and manufacture a variety of filling valves in order to fill the product in the best way without altering its quality:

Tank/Basin

Tank/Basin

The tank/basin used for our Gold-series bottling machine consists of an annular tank for filling machines with 32 valves and more and a full tank for filling machines with 6 to 28 valves. A ring-shaped annular tank is available on request for 12- to 28-valve bottling machines.

The tank/basin for this machine is made of AISI 304 stainless steel or higher quality AISI 316 if required. The interior surface of the container is mirror polished to enable easy and safe sterilization. The lid is hermetically sealed to prevent oxygen from getting in and it can work up to 6-7 bar pressure. This tank has been tested according to legal requirements for pressures up to 8-10 bar (PED, TUV, etc.).

Pneumatic Cylinder

Pneumatic Cylinder

An air recovery pneumatic cylinder is used for lifting the bottles and placing them in line with the filling valves.

The lifting system is operated by a mechanical-pneumatic system and it facilitates the recovery of the compressed air that was previously filtered and lubricated. A cam is used to activate the descent of the cylinder. The mechanical movement of the system recycles the air that comes from the descending cylinders and pushes it to the cylinders in the lifting phase. In this way, air pressure consumption is also

  • support rotating table for the bottle lifting pistons with control cam (in the rotary version)

Capping Turret

Capping Turret

Our capping turrets can cap any bottle with any cap.

They can be subdivided into four types made for:

  • crown caps
  • natural and synthetic corks suitable for either wine or champagne
  • plastic caps of either the mushroom, pressure or pre-threaded type
  • threaded aluminum caps

All four types of capping turrets are available in a single-head version (for a maximum production of roughly 2,500-3,000 b/h) and multi-head form for higher production rates.

The high level of technology that characterizes the capping turrets means that even small single-head machines can utilize high technology features that are every bit as good as those of more complex multi-head machines.

Deaeration Turret

Deaeration Turret

The de-aeration section of the bottling machine, which may be mono-head or multi-head, is ideal for products, like wine that is badly affected by oxidation. Its cycle can be divided into two steps, carried out in the same section:

  1. The air is removed from the bottle with a high vacuum pump.
  2. The neutral gas (nitrogen or carbon dioxide) is injected into the bottle before it is filled.

Once these two steps have been completed the bottle goes into the filling machine and the neutral gas found inside the bottle is transferred to the tank. This ensures that the wine in the container does not come into contact with the air in the bottle, which could cause carbonation.

Rinsing / Inspection Turret

Rinsing / Inspection Turret

The rinsing turrets feature a semi-automatic electrical system (where provided) that adjusts the height of the grippers as the bottles pass by. The bottles coming from the conveyor belt are positioned to correspond with the grippers that firmly seize the bottles around the neck. Heavy bottles are lifted from the base with the help of a support.

When the carousel rotates the grippers are overturned by means of a tubular guide or twist and guided to the nozzle washing level.

All these machines are made of AISI 304 stainless steel (or AISI 316 if required). The plastic parts are made of certified food materials.

An intercepting solenoid valve designed to shut off the rinsing fluid automatically stops the flow every time the machine stops and reactivates it when it is restarted. In addition to the traditional fixed nozzle, an optional mobile nozzle system that goes inside the bottles is available to improve the washing procedure of the bottles.

A second rinsing or blowing cycle is also available to provide a double treatment. After rinsing, the “dripping” phase takes place. This ends when the gripper starts to once again rotate downwards by placing the bottles in the star unit, which will bring them back onto the conveyor belt and direct them towards the filling turret.

The machine’s injection system is built in such a way to prevent the injection phase on the grippers that, for whatever reason, have not lifted up a bottle. This device avoids any upward splashing that could wet both the machine and the surrounding environment.

The functions of the inspection machine are similar to those of the rising turret.

The bottles, already filled and capped, are turned upside down using the same mechanism as the rinsing machine. This machinery does not have a valve for washing but it is used to establish whether there are any foreign objects inside the bottle. Once the bottles are turned upside down they pass in front of a panel with bright lamps. If any irregularity is detected the bottle is discarded and removed from the production cycle.
